Yoga treat Mind & Body, you can utilize it for your brain as well; it will contribute your ability to solve problems at work, or calm down from stress. Implement these tips in your work routine even if you work from home or just basically spend time sitting, with your head bow down toward screen.
Don’t wait for someone to fulfill you. Don’t wait for someone to fall in love with you. Love yourself, know yourself. Do things for yourself and for your surroundings.
Love without a limit, dependency or attachment. Just love. First and for all – love yourself and fulfill yourself without relation to society rules or cultural assumptions.
Don't look at yourself through the eyes of the other only, learn to evaluate yourself and to empower yourself from within - it is a great gift.
It’s a big question, not a trivial matter.
A lot of people go every day, with almost every thought on what the others say or think.
We have a lot of assumptions throughout the day, pay attention to your thoughts. Most of the time it is whether or not the thing you say, think, act will be taken in a good way by others; How others will perceive it, if others are doing the same.
This chakra governs anatomical regions of the thyroid, parathyroid, jaw, neck, mouth, tongue and throat.
The gift of this chakra is accepting your originality, expressing your authentic voice and speaking your truth.
Learn to express yourself from a higher form of communication.
If you read the article 'Quick recipe for meditation' and you want to go further exploring this world; If you are already meditating and interested in more practice, and if you want to try a deeper recipe for meditation, read ahead.
Depend on what you want to achieve – clarity, answer to a question that is bothering you, visualizing a future goal, stress relieve, or just viewing thoughts without judgment. There is a technique for each.
When we want to achieve things that are outside of our comfort zone, we know we might have to sacrifice on the way – and we take it into consideration. If you have big dreams you are passionate about – you have to accept also the hideous, hard work that accompanies it.
Listening to people’s stories, talking about big topics and issues (and there are plenty! In this world) can open the whole experience to something more rewarding.
Listening also bring us ideas and open us to inspiration from every source, no matter how big or small.
This chakra is considered to be a bridge between the earthly and spiritual aspirations.
This chakra moves love through your life. It is the center of our bond with others, our sense of caring and compassion. It is about self-love, altruism, generosity, kindness and respect.
Summer is time of light and warmth, so when we practice Yoga we want to achieve energy of cool and calm.
Hot temperature outside also means we lose our temper, get impatient. This season is represented in Ayurveda by fire and water.
Vipassana means to see things as they really are, the technique teaches you, transform you with the help of self-observation.
What I remember most and took with me from this course was the deep interconnection between mind and body.
There are new types of Yoga today that resemble more other sports or the Gym. For example Buti Yoga, Yoga with weights, Cross Yoga, Hot yoga etc.
When we speak about the traditional (Hatha or Ashtanga) Yoga we usually see a lesson that include meditation and breathing techniques in it. Flow of Poses (Asana) and restorative poses in between and at the end (Savasana).
It starts with sitting comfortably with your sit bones on your heels.
If already there you feel pressure, place a bolster/folded blanket/pillow between your heels and buttocks. With time and practice, you will feel comfortable enough here and then can continue to hero pose.
The opposite of Low self-esteem will be – worthiness, believing in ourselves. The opposite of Shyness is confidence. The opposite of Anxiety is safety, the opposite of depression is happiness, joy. The opposite of fear is love.
What would you do if you were not afraid to accept yourself, recognize yourself, or be rejected? You’d be free and would enjoy the love you have for yourself and others.
If a behavior did not serve you good until now – find out if a different behavior can.
A matter of trying and actively changing, instead of keep on pondering.
First step is to act.
Second is to act from love.
Imagine a chair, now sit on it :)
I love this pose! Chair pose is one of my favourites and I keep repeating it during warm up.
It immediately bring us into balance and strength! Through our legs.
If you never use something, if you never move it, then it’s going to be very stiff. It’s like saying you got a sore ankle, let’s put a bandage on it, let’s keep the bandage on for the rest of your life. It doesn’t make sense. To lock the ankle with a bandage while it’s heeling is fine. But generally you take the bandage off the ankle.
The main challenge for the third chakra is to use your personal power in a balanced manner. What does that mean? It means consciously harnessing the energy of this chakra. It means being proactive rather than reactive or inactive.
While one side stretch, the other side contract. While one side is cooling, stretching, spacing, releasing stagnant energy stored in the muscles and organs, the other side is warming, as these organs are compressed and stimulated.
Thanks to that, Triangle pose (and all side stretch poses) work in a way that is balancing and energising, both Yin and Yang correspond equally, balance the body mind and can serve to energizethe nervous system whilst releasing stagnant energy stored.
If you read my blog since the beginning (Jan 17) you probably notice that I write about Yoga and also about my personal life.
I have been through some big changes in my life, personally, internally and externally.
I like writing personal posts that describe some of the therapeutic tools I used, and using, as I feel it is beneficial and interesting. After all, the world of Yoga is not superficial, it is a deep, rich, internal world with an ancient theory and practice.
Warrior 3 is the trickiest one in my opinion. It deserve some perpetration poses, like eagle pose, tree pose, Uttanasana and Ardha Uttanasana (Forward bend +half forward bend).
It is a balance pose, strengthening and lengthening our legs and back. Like the first two warriors it brings our attention to 2 different directions (front and back), while shifting our balance point from perpendicular to the floor to horizontal.
The warrior represent a “war” inside us. We usually fight against our ego and ignorance (as it’s called in yoga world). Warrior poses are challenging and they bring us focus, strength, clarity, confidence and courage.
They attribute to our posture and walking.
Walking meditation is a great tool to break routine, to come up from sitting posture that is harmful for our body, it is a break for the mind in the middle of a stressful day, it is awakening and bringing you back to this moment.
It is also a great tool for organizing, your thoughts and your plans, away from the daily chores; from another perspective, relaxed and pondering.
After 12 years of having the same routine, working, living in Tel Aviv, going out with my friends, being with my family and travel from time to time, I left everything! And bought one way ticket to Australia.
That was the moment I realized, I actually don’t like routine.
I was 32 years old, and I was willing to “risk” everything and to leave.
Balance is a key part of our life, we eager to have life/work balance, we aspire to spend a balanced amount of time with our loved ones, with ourselves and for efficient causes. Balanced is to be open minded and learn to see both sides of every situation (or more if there are). Balanced is to eat healthy and well but know that it is fine to indulge from time to time. Balanced is not taking so hard everything :)
this chakra is about pleasure and enjoyment. Experiencing our lives through feelings and sensations. It is also about sensuality, connection and intimacy. Its colour is orange, when the chakra is balanced you can experience grounded intuition and emotional stability, when it is out of balance it could affect you with attachment issues, sexually-related guilt, timidity, emotional volatility.
This chakra is an important emotional centre.
In the NL you can see, smell, touch and feel the change of season. Temperatures really change in average, you need different set of clothing for each season, the colors of nature are strongly visible everywhere you go. In Spring you can also smell fertilizers on the ground (beside the blossom of flowers) and the days become soooooo long, you can actually see the course of the sun (from my apartment in the west).
If you know that sport (any kind) is good for you but still cannot move from the couch, something is blocking you. Maybe it is mentally connected to a childhood experience or any other reason, whatever it is, I have also some advises for this stage. I call it the stage of wanting to be active but still not there yet.
If you are a type of person that cringe by the sound of the word ‘calories’, if you’re feeling sick when hearing the term ‘jogging’, if you really want to make time for sport and you really struggle to do it, then entering a vicious circle of guilt, I have some advises for you.
